Does this drum set include a tuning key? Also, can you take off the kick skin?
Answer: Yes, you can take off the kick skin and the other ones. Not to mention, a tuning key and standard lugs come with the drums.

Is it possible to substitute the cymbal for a 12 inch, or is that too much weight?
Answer: Yes. It's a possibility even though it does bear some weight. You have to angle the tom and snare back a bit.

The Instructions for the kit state that the throne height is adjustable, but it seems that the seat only has one screw and hole setting. Can anyone tell me why?
Answer: The throne is not adjustable for MJDS-1-BL. It only adjusts for models MJDS-3 and MJDS-5.

Answer: Yes. Just switch the position of the snare and tom for a left-handed feel.
